I am a registered nurse with over ten years’ experience. I have a BNurs (Hons), an MSc, with distinction, in Nursing, and I am currently writing up my PhD thesis in Nursing. I currently work as a Nurse Consultant in Forensic Mental Health and I also lecture at university on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. My areas of expertise are prevention and management of violence and aggression, risk assessment and self-harm. However, I have had a very varied clinical career which includes experience in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Nursing Homes, Medicine and Surgery. I have also published fairly widely in high impact academic journals and have written chapter in a book. Therefore, I am able to write on all nursing and health related subjects.
