With the concurrent widespread of new technology and social networking, cyberbullying and cyber harassment have highly been reported especially to youth. According to the technology, cyberbullying can be defined as hostile communications and interactions that occur concessionary via electronic media. The scientist argues that cyberbullying causes temporal aggression in communications since most people intents to penetrate other’s information even without authority (Dredge, Rebecca, Gleeson & Xochitl 2014). Basing the current trends in technology, most authors have raised different aspects and arguments concerning cyberbullying threats. In the late research, cyberbullying and cyber harassment were the most significant threat touching the technology sector. Several scholars argue that cyberbullying actions have been promoted by using social media such as Facebook and Instagram. Our primary focus is to have a compressive argumentative discussion on how Facebook and Instagram contribute to temporal cyberbullying. Additionally, the report shall discuss how we can solve cyberbullying problems since it has been a significant threat, especially in information technology.
With the invention of the Instagram app around 2010, cyberbullying problems have affected more than 46% of younger people, especially in the United States of America. According to the National Crime Prevention Council’s arguments in 2011, half of the younger generation in America has been affected by cyberbullying and cyber harassment. Basing technology experts’ opinions, the number of affected teens increased immediately after the invention of Instagram and Facebook as communications social media (Tahmasebi et al., 2018). Even though cyberbullying does not promote physical damage, it is believed to have devastating physiological problems for younger people. In response to this, current statistics show that Facebook and Instagram are the most influencing cyberbullying and cyber harassment aspects. However, I am sure most people have no idea how these two paramount apps can contribute to cyberbullying. Following the technology, the younger generation has adopted smartphones and laptops, connecting with different social media.
A high percentage of younger people prefer using Facebook as the leading social networking with other colleges; however, on Facebook, there are different people with different intentions. Instagram involves data, images, and comments designed to fetch other people’s information if there is a vulnerability of the data (Dredge, Rebecca, Gleeson & Xochitl 2014). Additionally, this application has human labelers that use image contents crowd flower websites to mine people’s current browsing history. Due to this technology, most younger people found themselves under the hands of cyberbullies, whereby they can trace all their browsing history.
By using labeled data technology, most experts can evaluate the different information on Instagram, thus detecting cyberbullying incidents. According to several arguments, cyberbullying has often caused premature deaths both to younger people and adults. In most cases, social media such as Facebook and Instagram have threatening articles that cerates negative emotions, thus causing suicide to the readers. The most contributing factor of cyberbullying is chatting and image post. Most people have developed an unstoppable habit of posting their friends as image captions, thus adding some weird information: “Who thinks he or she is ugly. ” Such information causes depression to some people, thus promoting suicide or hatred between people. According to several experts’ arguments, this is a severe problem, especially for children who engage in social media.
With the current technology, most younger people spent extended time on the internet and social media platforms, e.g., Facebook and Instagram. With this, it’s good to understand that Instagram and Facebook are the most committed, social media irradiating the biggest cyberbullying problem. According to this argumentative essay, Instagram and Facebook have promoted public scrutiny; thus, several experts complain severely about bullying. Basing the research conducted by Ditch 2017, Instagram was the worst social media network for cyberbullying.
In his arguments, Ditch argues that most parents control their younger people from joining social groups since they foster unusual emotional reactions. Consequently, cyberbullying has lowered the community’s hope and expectations from their younger people since it has become more rampant internationally (Tahmasebi et al.;2018). To fight against cyberbullying issues, Instagram experts have decided to introduce machine learning objects and tools which will help them to detect any aspects related to bullying. This machine learning technology focuses on scanning all the captions and pictures before being posted on Instagram.
In my opinion, this is a good strategy on the side of technology. This innovation will encounter the issues of cyber harassment, especially to the younger people. The machine learning tool is designed so that if bullying occurs during caption or picture upload, the post will be automatically removed. The user account will likely be deleted from the Instagram channel. Additionally, the reading tool is designed uniquely such that the process can be refined when the information has been obtained.
According to Instagram managers’ arguments, they need to review every post made and flag it into machine learning for further filtrations (Gentians et al.;2021). This process promotes adjustment of the filter’s algorithm, thus identifying any form of bullying patterns. According to my perceptions, this form of data encryption is a comparative strategy to solve cyberbullying, mainly related to the Instagram channel. Initially, Instagram community members relied on self-policy, mechanisms but they noticed it was not working according to their expectations. This solution proved the community to be antiquated since most members failed to report the platform’s threats and defamation.
Ryan argues that many Instagram members initiate cyberbullying by creating spam and phasing links that contain strange pictures and captions. Once you try opening them, you encounter weir information which can cause deep depression. The community group anticipates protecting its community members by inventing machine learning tools. Any form of bullying can be easily detected before other people in the social media view upload. More knowledge is still needed to implement machine learning tools since cyberbullies may contain more than one account (Tahmasebi et al., 2018). However, according to the Ditch opinions, creating Instagram and Facebook accounts has become simpler since only email and phone numbers are needed. This limit cyberbullies from accessing any more information related to other people’s accounts.
Generally, cyberbullying can occur on all social media, but according to recent research, Facebook is the most leading social media. According to 2008 statistics, 68% of bullying cases are found to be from Facebook channels. However, according to that investigation, the highest number was younger people since they spent a lot of time on Facebook than any other activity (Gentians et al.;2021). With this, people have witnessed that the surge of cyberbullying can be recognized using electronic communication technologies. Concerning today’s technology, there are several ways through which Facebook contributes to cyberbullying. As per several scholars’ arguments, about one million youth members have been subjected to severe bullying, mainly through harassment and social media threats.
Since no one is in charge of Facebook, most people post funny captions and picture that draws adverse reactions to the viewers. Consequently, some people use irritating language to comment on other people’s posts (Shatora, Zahra & Jessica 2016). However, some comments are creating negative emotions, thus harassing the owner of the post. This is one of the most significant issues in cyberbullying today. Consequently, Facebook contains other funny videos and games, which are more attractive to the younger people; however, these videos and games at the end stick in the young people’s minds, limiting the chances to engage in other activity.
The present study argues that feeling and behaviors are the major factors determining the concepts and degree of cyberbullying. This argumentative essay exceptionally captures Facebook and Instagram’s fundamental contributions in the site of bullying (Piccolo & Valentina 2020). According to MacDonald’s arguments, most people have impressive views concerning Facebook and Instagram since they complain that they are primary sources of cyberbullying. However, according to my arguments, I think most people lack the evidence to prove their assumptions. If one experiences any form of bullying, it’s advisable to block the aggressor from communicating. This strategy can be used to solve cyberbullying, which frequently occurs on Facebook and Instagram social media (Gahagan et al.;2016). As we progress with technology, there is a need for the parents and teachers to understand that they have duty to council and give positive guidelines to the students since they are more affected by cyberbullying. The impression of this is that most children will have poor performance due to poor and low responses in the class.
In conclusion, it’s good to understand how Facebook and Instagram have contributed to cyberbullying, especially the younger people. According to this argumentative essay, there is enough evidence that cyberbullying on social media is mainly generated by Facebook and Instagram platforms. Additionally, the arguments call for an immediate solution before the problem becomes worst. Cyberbullying can make students lose perspectives, especially in their lives, thus dropping out of school, unpredicted violence in schools, and suicide. Therefore, according to scholars’ arguments, college and university should take part and advise students on the consequences of using social media such as Facebook and Instagram. There should be prevention strategies to address this upcoming issue due to the increase of technology taking place. According to my recommendations on this issue, there should be a collaborative workshop for universities, colleges, and other agencies to council youth people since their large percentage of their lives have been taken by social media. Counseling can help to stop cases of cyberbullying, especially in the young generation. We need to understand that social media is like a jungle that has no end either beginning and if we fail to make a decision, then there is a high probability of losing more younger people.
