How we recruit writers

The selection process

Becoming an Ivory Research writer isn’t easy. All candidates are required to undergo a complex and psychologically demanding selection process. Our recruitment specialists have many years’ experience in the academic research industry, and they know exactly which skills and qualifications they are looking for in a writer.


All candidates are required to hold a minimum 2:1 Bachelor’s degree from a UK university (85% of our writers hold postgraduate degrees including Masters and PhDs). We verify the academic qualifications of all of our writers by insisting on seeing their original degree certificate and confirming that it is awarded by a legitimate UK university.

The interview process

After we have checked and assessed their credentials, candidates are given a telephone interview to determine their suitability for the role. (We are the ONLY writing service that interviews EVERY writer they employ.)

Trial assignment

Upon a satisfactory interview, applicants are required to complete a trial assignment. This enables us to assess the quality of their work and ensure their research and writing skills meet our rigorous standards. (We are the ONLY writing service that requires its candidates to complete a trial assignment.) All assignments are scanned to check for duplicate content and ensure they are 100% plagiarism free.

Continuous improvement

And it doesn’t end there. When a writer joins the team, their work is continuously monitored for quality and originality. Writers receive regular feedback, and in return are encouraged to give us feedback to enable us to continuously improve the service we provide for our clients.

To this end, when we ask them to take on an assignment we always make sure it is compatible with their academic and research interests.
