*The universities included in this list all provided a full and accurate response to a Freedom of Information request sent on the 1st October 2021. All of the universities replied within the correct time frame and were able to provide valuable feedback. The 'last two years' refers to the university's financial years, some running from September until August and others from August until July. The universities were asked to provide answers to the following questions:
- How much in total did your organisation spend on new technology for the university between September 2020 and August 2021?
- How much in total did your organisation spend on maintaining existing technology September 2020 and August 2021?
- How much in total did your organisation spend on new technology for the university between September 2019 to August 2020?
- How much in total did your organisation spend on maintaining existing technology September 2019 to August 2020?
Where clarification was requested, the universities received the following information. "Technology refers to any IT infrastructure, hardware or software used by or intended for students. Technology maintenance or replacement refers to physical assets, as well as extension of contracts supplying nonphysical technology such as computer systems or cloud hosted software." The figure has been calculated using the responses provided and divided by the amount of students enrolled at the university. Further details are available upon request.
